Quiz Guide

The learner reads a question and selects exactly one answer from a list of options. Only one choice can be active at a time (radio-button behaviour). The answer is submitted and compared against the single correct option you define.

How to use

In the question builder, add as many option rows as you need and tick the one that is correct. At least two options are recommended to make the question meaningful.

Customisation

• Random Options — shuffles the option list into a different order for each render, preventing positional memorisation.
• button-style-input — renders options as large clickable buttons instead of small radio circles; useful on touch devices or for younger learners.
• colored — cycles each option through a palette of soft background colours, making the list easier to scan visually.
• numbered / lettered (listing class) — prefixes options with 1 2 3… or A B C… automatically.

The learner reads a question and selects every option that is correct — there may be one, several, or all of them. Grading uses set equality: the learner's selection must match the correct set exactly (no partial credit, order does not matter, comparison is case-insensitive).

Quick Authoring Tips

• Keep answers concise: Single words or 2–3 word phrasesyield the best results and prevent typing errors.
• Capitalization rule: Grading automatically formats thestudent's entry by capitalizing the first letter (e.g., typing "photosynthesis" or "PHOTOSYNTHESIS" will both match "Photosynthesis"). Avoid answers that rely on unusual middle-build_missing_word_html capitalization.

Examinees drag items from an item pool into designated, labeled category containers. The question is graded as correct only when every item is placed into its correct category.

The learner will view the items moving to capture and drop in its zone unless you choose to disable it.

You can enable Freeze Raining to stop animation and you can enable Randomize Options to randomize the order of the answer options

1. Select Image: Choose or upload the background reference image.
2. Position Drop Zones: Place target placeholders over key locations on the image.
3. Add Label Pool: Define the draggable text options available.
4. Set Correct Answers: Enter the correct text for each drop zone in order (one per line).

• Symbolic Grading: Submissions are evaluated using symbolic mathematical equivalence rather than exact string matching (e.g., x+1 and 1+x both evaluate as correct).
• Math Input Editor: Learners interact with a visual <math-field> editor component that automatically synchronizes with underlying LaTeX text.

How to Build

1. Add Text & Placeholders: Write your question text and insert target dropzone markers like 1($), 2($), etc., directly into the text prompt.
2. Add Option Pool: Enter the draggable options line-by-line in the Answers field (supports optional value|html format).
3. Set Correct Answers: Enter the correct answer for each dropzone line-by-line in the Correct Answers field in strict positional order (line 1 matches 1($), line 2 matches 2($)).

Settings & Options

• Random Options: Shuffles the draggable options pool on each load.
• Lock Edit: Restricts dropzones to drag-and-drop interaction only, disabling direct text typing inside slots.
• Use answer once: Removes an option tile from the draggable pool once placed into a dropzone.

• Case Sensitivity: Grading uses unordered, case-sensitive set matching. Ensure your correct answer entries match the exact capitalization in the passage.

How to Build

1. Define Column Items: Provide the items organized under two column headers (for example, Column 1: Countries, Column 2: Capitals)[cite: 9].

• Lives Limit: Learners receive 10 lives per attempt. Each incorrect letter guess draws a portion of the figure and consumes one life.
• Grading Mechanics: The system automatically evaluates submission as pass/fail—submitting the fully uncovered word on a win or an empty response if all lives are lost.

1. Select Puzzle Image: Upload or select an image to be sliced into the 3x3 sliding puzzle grid.
2. Set Correct Answer: Type the expected answer into the Correct Answers field.

• Grading Mechanics: Grading is based entirely on the typed text input (case-normalized), while the puzzle acts as an interactive visual reveal.
• Keep Answers Concise: Short 1–3 word responses yield the best learner experience.

The learner selects one or more correct options by rotating a cannon (a half-circle aiming range) and firing at whichever target is currently in its sights - the same underlying answer as Multiple Answers, just a different way of selecting it. Firing toggles that option on/off, so a student can correct a mis-aimed shot before moving on. Grading uses set equality (the same all-or-nothing rule Multiple Answers uses): the selection must match the correct set exactly.

How to use

Build it exactly like Multiple Answers: add your option rows and tick every one that's correct. The options become the cannon's targets, spread evenly across its aiming arc.

Gamified experience

Works with Quiz Settings' Gamified Experience exactly like every other question type - no special setup needed. With it on, Check Answer grades this question immediately; with it off, the student's shots are just recorded as normal answers, graded on submit.

How to Build

1. Write the Clue: Enter the hint in the Title or Rich Details field — this is what the learner sees.
2. Set the Secret Word: Enter the word to guess in the Correct Answers field (e.g. COSMOS). Uppercase is recommended but not required — grading is case-insensitive.
3. Set Max Trials (optional): Enter a whole number in the Answer Options field (e.g. 6). Defaults to 4 if left blank.

How the Learner Plays

• One input box per letter appears automatically from the word length.
• After each guess, matched letters are shown in green; wrong positions show an underscore.
• A history panel records all previous attempts.
• Win: all letters match. Loss: trials exhausted without a correct guess.

Tips

• Works best with a clear, specific clue that narrows the answer to exactly one word.
• Suitable for vocabulary, science terms, geography, or any single-word fact the learner should recall.

How to Build

1. Column Titles: Set a label for the left column (draggable items) and the right column (fixed targets).
2. Add Pairs: For each pair enter the left item text and its matching right item text. Items support plain text, LaTeX \( ... \), or HTML.
3. Correct Answer: The correct pairs are automatically stored as JSON — no comma-separation issues, so commas in item text are fine.

How the Learner Plays

• Puzzle pieces (left items) appear in a pool on the left.
• Each row on the right has a dashed socket and a fixed label.
• The learner drags a piece from the pool into the correct socket.
• Only one piece fits per socket; dropping a second piece returns the first to the pool.

Tips

• Works with LaTeX, SVG, and images in item text.
• Grading is order-independent — only the left→right pairings matter.
