Equal osmotic pressure solutions — term

Explanation

When the osmotic pressure is equal on both sides of a semipermeable membrane, each solution is said to be isosmotic (also called isotonic). There is no net movement of water in either direction. If one side has higher osmotic pressure it is hyperosmotic; if lower, it is hypoosmotic.
