Solving Equations with Equality
There are four properties of equality that are used to solve equations
An equation is a statement indicating that two expressions are equal

More complicated equations may require using more than one property to solve it.

When solving equations, we should simplify the expressions that make up the left and right sides before applying any properties of equality. Often, that involves removing parentheses and/or combining like terms.
