Force and Motion - General

A train goes 300 miles at an average speed of 45 miles per hour. 

It takes hours to go the distance  (Approximate decimal points to the first decimal point)

An object is traveling with a speed of 2 m/s.  Three seconds later its speed is 14 m/s.

It is acceleration during this time is m/s²

The acceleration of gravity in British units is ft/s².  The acceleration of gravity in metric units is m/s²

An object accelerating by 4 m/s².  How far does it go in 3 seconds of acceleration?

An object falling from rest reaches a speed of ft/s (or m/s) after falling 5 seconds.  (Ignore air resistance.)  At this time it has fallen ft (or m).

Suppose you are a passenger in a car moving at 55 miles per hour.  You lift a pencil to the ceiling of the car and drop it.  Just before it hits the seat, how fast is it traveling forward? miles/hour.  Is the downward speed of the pencil increase or decrease?

One boy pulls on his bicycle with a force of 15 pounds.  His (former) friend pulls on it with a force of 18 pounds in the opposite direction. 

1. What is the net force on the bike?
2. What is the direction of the net force?

A force of 3 pounds is exerted toward the east on an object.  At the same time a 4-pound force toward the north is exerted on it.
