Plastids — stacks of lamellae

Explanation

In plastids (particularly chloroplasts), stacks of lamellae (disc-like membrane sacs) are called grana (singular: granum). Each stack consists of multiple thylakoid discs. The grana are embedded in the stroma (the protein-rich matrix) and are the sites of the light reactions of photosynthesis.
